Family of Joe Cross, NC

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM JEANNE C. ON 11/02/09:

"Please pray for the family of Joe Cross of Supply who was killed Friday, Oct. 30, while riding a motorcycle. A woman in an SUV pulled into his path, and he was killed instantly. His wife's name is Crystal, and they have two very small children."

Bradley, Alex, Josh, and Blain ... NC

The four were involved in a terrible two-car accident on 11/4/09. All four young men are blessed to have survived the accident!

Here's the results:

Bradley: cuts, bruises, and a shattered right leg; had surgery to place a rod in the leg on 11/6. I spoke to his mom, Jennifer twice on the day of surgery and she states he is doing well. The doctors expect him to recover well! Praise the Lord! I assured Bradley and his mom we will continually pray for speedy and complete recovery, as well as strength and courage and good health for all involved with his care. When I was speaking with Bradley, he said he's in a lot of pain.

Alex: injured right knee, unable to move it; had an MRI on 11/5 and will get results next week

Blain: face, head, and neck injuries; instructed to follow-up w/chiropractor

Josh: mainly head, neck, and back injuries; slight injuries to hand, knees, and hip; is being treated by chiropractor; has some swelling and inflammation still, but doctor expects good results

Alester Campbell, NC

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM KESHA ON 10/07/09:
(KESHA IS A FRIEND OF MINE FROM SCHOOL IN LAURINBURG.)

"Hello,
I hope all is well with you all. I need some prayer warriors to join in with me and pray for my husband Alester Campbell whom the doctor think has throat and lung cancer. Alester had throat cancer in 1998 and God took it away. Alester refuses to go to the doctor to get further tests done because he knows that God will work all of this out. When he had cancer in 1998 he went through 27 radiation treatments and God fixed it. He was also given perscription whereby he tore it up and told the doctor he didnt need it. He says if he goes now and let them cut him to check his lungs the cancer would definetly come back. He says he has faith and he will let God fight all of his battles. He also states that if he has a sickness and it is unto death he is ready to meet his Father.

Lou Severino, FL

URGENT!!!
REC'D FROM MICHELLE POOLE, A GREAT FRIEND (AND PRAYER PARTNER) FROM LAURINBURG, VIA EMAIL ON 6/18/09:

"Just want to thank everyone for praying for my dad. Last week he was scheduled for surgery and some kids got into an accident and his surgery was postponed and it was by God's grace because if they had operated he would've died. At that time they didn't know about the blood clot in his lung.

The lung doctor called in the family a few days later and my brother and I drove to Florida. My dad was in good spirits but in pain. We were waiting for the results of the mass that was in his lower abdomen. We finally got those results today and it is cancer.(B cell lymphoma ) And the cancer is causing the blood clots in his body. They have called in hospice and he has 3 weeks to 3 months to live.

He is Catholic but has said the sinners prayer. I believe he is saved. He said he will go when the good Lord is ready for him but he is going to live the rest of his life at home with those he loves.

Please pray for peace with his sons who have been in conflict for several years and not communicated till now and pray for their salvation.
Thanks so much,
Michelle Poole"

Paul Powell, NC

Paul is Pastor Kenneth's dad. On Tuesday am, he was showering when his heart stopped. His internal defibrillator shocked him. After getting to the hospital, it shocked him again. They put him in ICU. They kept him for three days of monitoring and adjustments of his medications. He was released late Thursday, but is still very weak. His heart is very weak, and he has many blockages they can not repair. Please continue to pray for him, as well as Kenneth's mom, Carolyn, and sister, Lesa. They care for him right now, and neither are very well themselves. We are an hour and a half away, so we are limited how much we can help. That in itself is hard.

Debbie's family

Angel Tree Campers, NC

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM DONNA ON 5/25/09:

"Summer is just around the corner and so is Angel Tree Camping. Right now we have hundreds of prisoners children waiting for someone to care enough to send them to a week long christian camp. For $40.00 you can help transform a child's life forever. It's an opportunity for them to escape from an existence often marked by confusion, anger, and loneliness to experience the scenic beauty of God's creation. It's a chance for them to learn about Jesus, and experience His unconditional love away from the challenges they face everyday. So please prayerfully consider helping spread the Good News of our Savior Jesus Christ to these little bruised lives, so they may know Him and His love. Thank you, and may God bless you!"

BUT, BEFORE THAT CAN HAPPEN SHE NEEDS SURGERY TO BE PLACED ON THE "WAITING BABY" LIST.

This is one of the babies who received full funding through LWB, for open heart surgery in December; but she has had recurring respiratory issues, including pneumonia since then and is still unable to have the surgery that will ultimately save her life. Dylan Branier, NC

URGENT!!!
Please pray for Dylan, as he was one of five teens in a tragic car accident on Friday, May 8. He was reported to have been in the front passenger seat and wearing his seatbelt. He apparently was treated at the local hospital and released, but will certainly need prayers for strength and courage to get through this!

Jessica Solomon, NC

URGENT!!!
Please lift 16 year old Jessica Solomon in your prayers. She was one of five teens in the car which tragically wrecked on May 8. News has reported that she has been treated at the hospital, and since released. We were told she would need some reconstructive surgery due to eye damage, but the newspaper did not report that. She was apparently one of three not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the back seat of the car. Please pray for God to help her through this terrible time.

Joey Moreno, NC

URGENT!!!
Please remember Joey, 17 year old friend of our sons. Joey was the driver of the car carrying four other teen friends early Friday am, May 7. An 18 year old passenger died, one is in ICU, and two were treated and have since been released. Joey remains in New Hanover Hospital following the accident. He suffers with a punctured lung and broken arm, but most importantly emotionally as he tries to process and realize what all happened. Please lift him in prayer! Praise the Lord, he apparently was NOT drinking alcohol while driving.

Caleb Hawkins, NC

URGENT!!!
Please help us pray for Caleb, who is a seventeen year old friend of our sons. He is fighting for his life ... on life support in New Hanover Hospital following tragic car wreck around 12:30am on May 8. Caleb's brain has been swelling and both lungs are collapsed. Doctors told the family that this type of reaction (due to the trama of the impact) will typically peak after about 3 days. This means that tomorrow (Mother's Day) will be the day in which they can tell if the swelling will stop and he will recuperate. It is my understanding this young man doesn't have a church family; we need to adopt him (and his mom, sister, and brother) ... and love them and prayerfully support them through this horrific time. Let's get on our faces before the Lord in behalf of this young man's life, and ask God to help him, in Jesus' Name!

Family and friends of Jake Mosely, NC

URGENT!!!
Please remember family and friends of Jacob Mosely, a 12th grade student at West Brunswick High School. Jake was in a car wreck this past Friday, May 8, around 12:30am. Our sons knew Jake, as well as all four of the others in the wreck. Kenny and Josh went to visit at the hospital today, and we are planning on visiting again tomorrow. I will post information as I find out more.
You can click on the links below to read what the local newspapers printed. There are some discrepancies, and the wreck is apparently still under investigation. Praise the Lord ... the driver was NOT drinking alcohol!

Barbara Crumbley, NC

URGENT!!!
REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM MY DAD, MARVIN ON 5/3/09:

This little girl and her family really need our prayers…Dad

Praying for a miracle
by Knight Chamberlain, Staff Writer
LUMBERTON — To see 6-year-old Barbara Crumbley from a distance, you’d never know she was living with — and dying from — an incurable brain tumor. It’s clear from her shy smile, angelic face and tousled blonde hair that she is blissfully unaware of the hand she’s been dealt. Her parents, James and Samantha, are only too aware and their pain is palpable. But they soldier on, thankful for each day of their daughter’s life, anxious over what tomorrow might bring, and praying for a miracle.“It’s been rough,” James said. “She was diagnosed in December 2006, but we knew something was wrong two months earlier. The doctors thought she had a bladder inf ection, then they thought it was acid reflux. Then one day after church she just collapsed.”Barbara was rushed to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C, and it was there that Dr. Christopher Paramore finally figured out what was wrong.“He cried when he told us,” James said.Paramore determined that Barbara had anaplastic ependymoma, a malignant brain tumor that affects fewer than 25 children nationwide. Later that month he performed surgery to remove the tumor from her head. After that, Barbara endured 33 radiation treatments between February 2007 and May 2008 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham where Dr. Sridharan Gururangan cares for her. For a time the cancer appeared to be in remission, but tests in December revealed that the disease was spreading.“They started her on a clinical trial earlier this year, but they took her off it two weeks ago when they realized it wasn’t working,” James said. “We’ve been giving her chemotherapy pills since then, trying to buy time until, hopefully, another clinical trial comes along.”James and Samantha say Barbara has confounded her doctors because of her seemingly healthy outward appearance.“They’re amazed at how she is doing, considering what she’s been through,” James said. “They can’t believe that she has as much motor function that she does and is as pain-free as she is.”But the Crumblys are struggling financially. Medical bills have wiped out all their assets. Medicaid helps, and Samantha works part-time at Bo’s Supermarket, but James, who once ran his own paint crew, has been out of work for several months. There are also the Crumbly’s other three children who need care and attention: Lynn Marie, 5; Hunter, 4; and 2-year-old Jason. They are getting some help. Their landlord, Laney Speight, told them in January they could stop worrying about paying the rent. Friends bring food and help with expenses and moral support. Edith Tyndall, a cancer survivor, offers emotional support. Their church, Godwin Heights Baptist, started a fund to help as well.“I can’t think of a more deserving family,” said Godwin Heights Pastor David Holloway. “The Crumblys are living in dire circumstances and doing the best they can.”The family has also received help from Jason Maloney and his parents, John and Mary Nell. The three run Family Speech Therapy Services that operates in several Robeson County schools, including West Lumberton Elementary, where Jason first came in contact with Barbara.“I first met her at school, but it became necessary to begin working with her at home which is when I got to know the family,” Jason said. “Once we got to know them and their situation, we just had to help. It’s what the Lord expects us to do. That’s our motto: ‘Family Helping Families.’”Citing Christ’s admonition not to seek praise for good works, the Ma loneys were reluctant to talk about how they had helped the Crumbley family, but James said they supplied a washer and dryer, got their utilities cut on, brought food, and put gas in their car when they had no money to get to Duke for treatments.“We’re so thankful to them and all the people who’ve helped us,” James said, struggling to maintain his composure. “I used to think the world was a bad place, but I found out there are good people out there. I found out after Barbara got sick.“It’s not about money. It’s about people just being there for you emotionally, when you need a friend or just someone who lets you know they care.”When asked if there was something he could do for his daughter, James said it would be nice to be able to take her to Disney World “just to get away and forget about everything and just have fun for a few days.”James said he also hopes his story will help others.“We want parents to know to trust th eir instincts if their child gets sick,” he said. “If you think something’s wrong and you’re not getting answers, keep pushing. No one knows your child like you do.”_______Anyone who would like to help the Crumbley family may send donations to: Godwin Heights Baptist Church Crumbley Family Fund, 704 Godwin Avenue, Lumberton, N.C. 28358. People may also send prayers and words of encouragement through the church website at www.godwinbc.com.

Jason Smith, NC

URGENT!!!
REC'D VIA EMAIL ON 4/29/09 FROM DEBBIE:

"My daughter's teacher at BCC - Jason Smith from Southport, urgently needs our prayers. He evidently has been trying to deal with seeing his sister as she died from a tragic death last year. He's tried meds. from the doctors, etc... and now evidently drinking to try to deal with it. He was driving drunk last night and hit a man- Stanley Barnes from Burlington- on a motrocycle who later died. (This is also an urgent request. We need to be praying for the family and friends of this man who lost his life. They will need a lot of strength that only God can give.) He had left the scene but shortly after turned himself in- according to the news. (Apparently Jason drove off from the accident - went two blocks, parked his vehicle and walked back to the scene of the accident.) He is out on bail at this time. I do not know if he has any family or other support in our area. I've heard Becky, my daughter, speak of this teacher often. All the students really like him and have a lot of respect for him. They are wanting to know what they can do to help him through this. Please pray for strength for this teacher and his family and friends/students and for the family and friends of the man who lost his life.. Thank you so much.
Many, Many Blessings to you in the Name of Jesus
Debbie Pucci"

Preston Lloyd, NC

REC'D THIS FORWARD FROM REGINA I. ON 4/28/09:

"This is a friend of my niece - hope all of you have a blessed week - sylvia

I just wanted to let some of you know about this prayer request. Preston Lloyd is a 4 year old boy whose grandfather accidentally backed over him on the lawn mower this week. At this time, Preston is in the PICU at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte (yes - same PICU where I used to work. We see a lot of these injuries this time of year but it never makes it any less heart-breaking). My understanding is that Preston has lost his spleen, left kidney, and part of his left lung and that his esophagus was torn from his stomach among other injuries. He has had to have much reconstructive surgery done on his internal organs. ANYWAY. Please pray for Preston, for the entire Lloyd family, and for Preston's grandfather. If you would like more information, please visit http://caringbridge.org/visit/prestonloyd/journal.Feel free to share this prayer request with any prayer group of which you may be a part. FINALLY, PLEASE keep children inside when you or a neighbor is mowing. This was one of my "soapdish" issues with my dad for years and Mike has heard me yammering on about it PLENTY of times as well. Thank you !Blessings ~Nicki"

Timothy Helms, NC

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM DONNA PHELPS ON 04/05/09:

"It is with much regret that I inform everyone that inmate Timothy Helms medical condition continues to decline. Per his family, he still can not sit on his own, or feed himself. As many know, Timothy Helms has been hospitalized at Central Prison since August 2008, due to being beaten almost to death by prison guards. He substained brain damage, along with paralyzing injuries, while being beaten with handcuffs and shackles on. He only has an IQ of 79, has been diagnosed with numerous mental disorders since age 10, and was in solitary confinement at Alexander Correctional when this incident occured. This man needs a healing miracle and I know that my God can make it happen. Please pray that the Lord will reveal all the officers involved in this tragic incident, that these officers will repent and that justice will prevail, pray for strength for his brother Mike and all the family members, pray for Tim's healing to come forth and that he be released immediately, and pray that the Lord will give us wisdom in dealing with the family through this crisis.
"O merciful Father, we cry out for a healing miracle for our brother Timothy"

If you would like to read more about this man, you can on the Charlotte Observers

Jerry Martin (Dove Brothers), NC

REC'D ON 4/6/09 VIA EMAIL FROM THE DOVE BROTHERS QUARTET:

"The Dove Brothers and Martin Family would like to ask for you to please remember Jerry Martin, our tenor vocalist in prayer. Jerry will be having surgery to remove a hernia that developed over a year ago. It has now got to the point where something had to be done. As you may know, a singer uses their diaphram and abdomin muscles more than most people to support the notes that they sing. That is very important to a singer and once that it damaged, it can cause some problems. Jerry will have the surgery to fix this problem April 8th (wednesday) and asks that you pray for him during the operation and afterwards while he recovers fully."

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM THE DOVE BROTHERS ON 4/8/09:
" Update on Jerry. The surgery went fine & he is home resting the best he can. The doctor said the hernia was huge. They did not know it was that big until they got in there. He ended up with a 4 inch wide abdominal incision. Ouch.. Needless to say, per doctors orders, he will not be singing for a few weeks. There will be someone filling in for him while he recovers. He couldn't sing right now if he had to! Thank you for all the prayers. Please continue to pray that Jerry has a speedy recovery!
Thank you and God Bless!
The Dove Brothers"

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM THE DOVE BROTHERS ON 4/9/09:
"Update on Jerry. He is resting today, still in pain. But overall doing good. As stated yesterday, per his doctor, he is not to travel for a few weeks. Filling in for him will be Brian Arp from Greenville, NC. Continue to pray for Jerry's speedy recovery, Jerry Kelso & his family and the Dove Brothers continued ministry.
Thank you and God Bless!

Michael Noble, NC

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM JOE ON 3/24/09:

"I am calling on those that I know believe in the power of prayer. A
friend of mine, Jamie Noble, has a brother that was involved in an auto
accident last Thursday. The brothers name is Michael Noble, he is in the
ICU unit at NHRMC, he has a crushed right ankle and most importantly he
has a neck fracture. Sunday night his body formed blood clots and his
oxygen level dropped real low. After much prayer he began showing signs
of improvement however I just spoke with Jamie and he has taken another
downward turn. Jamie stated he has formed another blood clot and the
next 12 hours are very critical and he asked that people be praying.
Jamie trusts in Christ and he believes in the power of prayer and he is
asking that we start praying for his brother. Thanks to all of you for
your prayers and support for him during this time.

"This is the family of the sophomore at West that got into the ATV accident and air lifted to Pitt Memorial ...Good Morning To Everyone:I come to you this morning once again to ask prayer for the Britt Family. Dee is doing fine but his mother was rushed to the hospital last night for a collapsed lung. They re-inflated it last night but it failed this morning. They are calling in a surgeon this morning. Please keep Tammy and her family in your prayers this family has been through so much these past few weeks. God is working in their lives so hard and we as Christians see this and we praise God for it but they are so tired and its time for them to be carried. So please pray for the air to flow from God's mouth to Tammys lung and fill her body with the breath of the Holy Spirit and let the stress in her body just float away. Today I pray that God breathes every breath for her today to give rest and peace to see her family through these hard times. God is great! She is in extreme pain. One of her lungs has collapsed and they don't know why and they can't get it to re-inflate. They are going to have to do surgery. Also, Dee's grandma - Ruby has a breathing disease and now has bronchitus and will also have to be taken to the hospital. Bobby (Dee's dad) is running back and forth from the hospital to their home - He just came in to give Dee a bath. This family is definitely under attack. Please - ALL prayer warriors - take your stand for this family.

Brionna Spivey, NC

Received via email:"Bri0nna in NC- Brionna is 14 years old and was a passenger involved in a single car accident. She has severe head trauma. She was taken to Charleston, SC. I have heard several different reports and cannot verify details but do know that this is very serious. I do not know the status of her relationship with God but pray that if she needs it, she will have opportunity and the right person to cross her path. I don't know how responsive she is at this point."

Received via email - "The latest I heard last night (from someone who spoke to Brianna's dad) is that the doctors are preparing her family for a tough day today. They said usually the third day is when there is the most swelling. They are keeping her sedated (comatose, I think) to reduce as much stress on her body as possible. So, please everybody, pray! A couple of the others in the accident were treated and released--I understand that one more may have been hospitalized but none of them received the damage Brianna did. I was also told that she broke every bone in her face (heard this from several people).Lord, I ask You to touch Brianna today in a way that no one, not even the doctors, can. Let her be a living testimony of Your power and mercy. Help her parents, her brother, other family members, and her friends. Comfort them as only You can. May You be glorified in this. I ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen."

Received via email on 5/14/07:"I wanted to give my prayer partners an update on Brionna Spivey. Brionna had not had a single setback in her recovery until Thursday when her temperature went to 103. Doctors began antibiotics and she began responding. Praise the Lord! When I spoke to her uncle yesterday afternoon, it had come down to 100.8. During some procedures on Friday, which evidently aroused her, her ICP (Inner Cranial Pressure - the thing that was at 18 and had come down to 10) shot up to 30!But, (thank the Lord for "buts") it was at 4 yesterday. God is so good!Today the doctors will do an MRI of Brionna 's head to try to determine the exact extent of her injuries. They also play to put a feeding tube in at this time. Her family wanted me to thank you for your prayers, and, of course, they are asking you to keep praying for her.Psalm 107:20 says "He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." As we speak God's word in prayer, let's join in believing for her full recovery - FOR HIS GLORY."

Received via email on 05/16/07:"PRAISE THE LORD!!! I am so excited! The doctors have started weaning Brionna off of the ventilator. She is breathing 75% of the time! The machine is breathing 4 breaths to Brionna's 17 breaths. One of the side effects of this is that her blood pressure is going up some. This is expected because her body is working harder to respond. They have done MRI's on her head and neck. The family asked the doctors when they thought she would "wake up" based on the extent of her injuries, and they said they have seen a very wide range of time before patients wake up. Some quickly - some quite a long time. It is a very individualized process. The care team will be removing the collar she has in order to put a trach in and will replace it with a little different collar. She will also receive a feeding tube in her stomach this week. (The tube is now down her throat.)We are confident God is hearing our prayers and we trust Him to manifest Brionna's full recovery in His timing. Thank you for every prayer you pray for this young girl and her family. May God bless you abundantly!"

Received via email from one of our prayer partners on 05/16/07:"I am praying that she will not receive the feeding tube, but will be able to eat and sit up before the week is out! Praise God for His Healing Touch!!"Received via email 05/21/07:"Brionna has had several good days. Her temperature and the pressure in her head have come down to normal. She underwent surgery Thursday morning for a trach and a feeding tube. Around 2:30 Thursday afternoon she opened her right eye twice! The news gets better...Brionna's daddy, Mike, called Saturday to say that she was not only COMPLETELY OFF OF THE VENTILATOR, but THEY HAVE TAKEN IT OUT OF HER ROOM! I hope I'll soon be telling you that she's awake and talking! Her family is tired but also very encouraged in all that God is doing. They ask me to thank you for your prayers. They see them manifested in Brionna and feel them as their Comfort continuously.Thank You, Father! Glory to Your Name."

Received via email 5/24/07:"The Lord continues to be merciful and gracious to Brionna Spivey. She has been moved to a regular room and is getting wonderful care from the team at MUSC.Yesterday the doctors reviewed the X-rays and were planning to begin "some" of the surgeries in her face. But, the Potter has molded her face to His original fashion! "Surgeries" will not be necessary. PTLMike, Brionna's dad called this morning to say that the nurses have shown Melody (Brionna's mother) how to care for the trach if she needs to. She was attending to it in some way yesterday and Brionna began opening and closing her eyes. She opened them 5-6 times. Her mother, of course, was so excited. This was an awesome encouragement for all the family and friends.Good morning, Holy Spirit. How we adore You and praise You for Your mighty works. Your love and mercy are all around us.May we never cease to give You the honor You are so worthy of. Lord Jesus, I pray that You will continue this good work that You have begun in Brionna. I thank You right now, Lord, that You will bring every memory and thought back together. I pray that you will allow Bree to wake up to know the Wonders of Your Mighty Hand.I pray against any defects or setbacks and that she will see with both of her eyes and speak/sing of Your Great Love.God, we want to share "You" with someone TODAY. Prepare that heart and open the door of opportunity.May they see Jesus in all we do and say. For Your Glory! Now, Father, we are trusting You. You have shown over and over that we can. Guide us in all Truth.Amen"

Received via email on 5/31/07:"Please lift Brionna in prayer today. Her temperature has shot up again yesterday and they can't seem to find out why and are not able to get it down. They have removed all foreign lines that might be a source of infection. So, at this point, they are stumped.I talked with Mike, Brionna's Dad, Tuesday and he said that she was beginning to move her legs! Her heart rate had gone up along with this movement and the doctors are encouraged by it. They say that if her blood pressure had gone up, they would associate it with PAIN. But, since her heart rate went up, they think it is from HER TRYING TO MOVE! Thank you, Father. Also, please continue to remember Brionna's parents. Her mother, Melody has only had 3 hours of sleep at any given time. This Saturday will be 4 weeks, and she is exhausted.Thank you for your love and prayers. It means everything.~Donna"

Received via email on 06/04/07:"GOOD -We visited with Brionna Saturday. The doctors had started giving her a muscle relaxer (Her hands and feet had begun to draw in.) and it has relaxed her and helped with the physical therapy AND it caused her fever to drop. She is still opening her right eye (groggily) and when I talked with her, she would move her head toward my voice about an inch. I was so excited! They are putting her up in a wheel chair 1 hour out of 3 to stimulate her and she is completely off of the oxygen, although she still has the trach. SHE HAS MET THE CRITERIA FOR REHAB! If all goes well, she will be moved to Charlotte this Wednesday or Thursday. This was very encouraging news to Brionna's family. It was a good visit.AND NOT SO GOOD-I got a call last night that Brionna has pneumonia in her right lung. I called and talked with Mike and he said that the doctor was afraid at first that her lung was collapsing, but after getting the results from the lab, he determined it was pneumonia. They have started her on a very aggressive antibiotic and are hopeful that it will clear up in 2-3 days. Her temperature was 103 last night. When I first heard the news of the pneumonia, I was sad and I asked God why. She had not had any setbacks and now when rehab was so close - pneumonia. Immediately, He told me He had a reason. I believe it is for her good. You never know, this antibiotic may help in ways we don't see that she needs. He is All Sufficient. I trust Him to continue her healing process.Thank you for your prayers.~Donna"

Received via email on 6/11/07:"Brionna is clear of pneumonia and she is going to be moved to Charlotte today at 10 a.m. for re-hab!Thank the Lord. This weekend, her temperature stayed down and she did not get agitated very much causing her heart rate to go up.(This comes from muscle spasms.)God has continued to be so wonderful and merciful. Please pray for a safe and smooth transition to Charlotte. (Both for Brionna and the parents.) The family has been told that we will be amazed at the difference we'll see in just one week.I receive that in the precious name of Jesus. He is All Sufficient.THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS.Also, please pray for me and the many friends of Brionna who are hosting the Spaghetti Benefit for her this Friday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.I'm nervous about such a large undertaking. Sponsors and volunteers have been wonderful. We want to praise the Lord for all He's done for Bree and in this small way be a blessing to her family."

Received via email on 6/20/07:"GREAT NEWS FROM BRIONNA!(Attached is an e-mail from Donald Cribb's wife Cheryle. Donald is the deacon from Clarendon Baptist Church that "cares" for Brionna's family. They are assigned many families to inner act with. He talks with them everyday.)"If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven."GOD IS ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS NOW!Thank you ... Donna McPherson Good day everyone.....12:04 June 20thThis is my disclaimer......I do my very best to pass along only information that either I or Donald have received directly from either Mike, Melodyor Diane. and then do my very best to relay and explain as it was it was explained to me, not adding to or exaggerating any details. Informationfrom any other source will be documented as such. If you have confirmed knowledge that any of the information received in these e-mails is incorrect or has changed, please reply back to me directly so I can made corrections. Melody has explained to Donald that their day is very busy....and the best time for him to call is in the evening....so information I forwardwill most likely be from the previous evening. Also, if at any time you wish to be removed from this list, please just let me know. Otherwise....just keep praying.CheryleDonald spoke with Melody yesterday late evening......and reports the following........They've removed the cast from her feet that was in place to help her gain the correct foot posture. The report from the doctor was she has regained 20% and this is more than they've ever seen anyone regain at once.Another cast was placed to continue the process.A Comfort Brace for her hands and arms are being made to size to accomplish the same in her hands....although this brace is removable. Her temp, bp, and heart rate are all within normal ranges. They're going to remove her current trachea and replace with a smaller one.She is still opening her right eye....but not so much the left. She is showing facial expressions in response to direct stimuli. An example would be when the therapist is working with her and it's painful, she looks as if she wants to cry. The doc's say this is a good sign.It was explained to me that this could be showing that she is not only feeling the stimuli but the brain is receiving thepain signal and she is expressing her discomfort in her face. "THIS IS GOOD"Also, the therapist put a sucker to her lips. She didn't immediately go to sucking on it....BUT...she did move her tongue as to taste it. Donald said that sucker had to have been like a steak to her. .....another positive improvement. The speech therapist is working with her with sounds and smells. She's got a regular routine now also. Her days begins around 7:30. It's a shower and get dressed. The therapist want her dressed as with as much of a normal routine wouldbe as possible. "NOW FOR THE BEST PART"....or at least I think so...........she has made some sounds. Melody described themas the sounds a baby might make before they can actually talk. "ISN'T THAT GREAT"!!!! Now I'm really excited aboutthat. Keep praying friends..............God's Blessings To You All!!Cheryle"

Received via email on 6/20/07:"I cried when I read this praise report...this is a miracle of healing from God! I will keep praying that Brionna will continue to receive healing just as God healed me after my MVA. I suffered a brain injury as well as other injuries, but by His stripes, I am healed! Blessings, Cathy J""That is awesome! Isn't God GREAT!!!!! i'm so glad she is doing better! ...Ashley"

Received via email on 6/25/07:"I was able to visit with Brionna this weekend. As always, it was a wonderful blessing for me. She is making more facial expressions.I THINK SHE KNEW I WAS THERE LOVIN' ON HER!Her rehab is very rigorous. 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The doctors say she is "Storming". This is a recovery process when the patient is trying to wake up. Due to damaged brain cells, the good cells have to work harder (before new ones are replenished). This is a very positive process, but is very tiring to Brionna. Please pray today specifically for the process of injecting botox in several areas of Bri's arms, neck/shoulder, legs, and feet. It will relax the muscles and ligaments that have drawn causing her to respond more rapidly to the physical therapy. However, IT IS VERY PAINFUL FOR HER TO RECEIVE. It burns for quite a while. This will be a milestone in her recovery. Help me pray for her to endure the pain and that God would even use this pain to wake her up!Thank you for your continued prayers for Brionna and her family.~Donna McPherson"

Received via email on 7/10/07:"My husband, Jack talked with Brionna's dad last night.Bri' is back at the rehab facility. As it turns out, she was taken to the "hospital" portion of Carolina's Medical Center for a lumbar procedure. While she was there, the doctors did other tests that could not be done on the "rehab" side. Thank God, all tests came back good. They seem to think that the temperature she keeps getting is coming from the head trauma since everything else is checking out OK.She is still holding her eyes open for 20 minutes or so. And she has once followed her mother with her eyes when she walked around the bed. The doctor had hoped for a little better results from the Botox, but says he has "other tricks up his sleeve" to help her. Brionna was fitted yesterday for a wheelchair. This was somewhat depressing for her parents. But, I'm believing that by the time they get it made - she won't need it.Doctors had projected that if she had not made significant progress by July 11 (tomorrow), they would send her home. But, thank the Lord, she has made enough progress to push that date back to the 20th. Hopefully, they'll keep pushin' it back!.I feel very strongly that it's a critical time to pray for Brionna.I believe it's God's will to restore her. We have to have faith...otherwise we cannot please Him.THANK YOU, Donna"

Received via email on 8/2/07:"Pastor Chrisa: Here are a couple of praise reports for Brionna. ~TerriBrionna came home yesterday. She did great! She tolerated the looooong ride home. (Her mama and daddy kept stopping: Wal-Mart, to get butter beans, to get her medicine and a few grocery.) Then all the company came in and she did great again! She was calm - looking around and was very pleasant. I talked with Mike this morning and she had a very restful night as well. I think she knows she's "home". Thanks for your concern with both of these folks who mean so much to me. LYL (Love you lots!)Donna

Praise God, Brionna is home!! In early May, I e-mailed those that I know BELIEVE in the power of prayer and in God's ability to perform miracles. Well, Brionna is a living miracle and testament of God's awesome power. She continues to improve daily, so keep those prayers flowing. Please join me in thanking GOD for her return to her home where she is surrounded by family and friends who love her so very much. She is our sister in Christ and I know that we all love her and pray for God's will to be done in her life. Please continue to pray for her parents and brother as they attend to her needs. It has been a long road for them, and while they still have a long way to go, they're in it for the long haul because they believe in HIS power as well.Brionna was one of the lead characters in a play to be performed by the youth of our church when she was in the car accident in May. Naturally, the play was delayed. When the family asked that we go ahead with the play and find someone else to fill in for Brionna because they felt it was what she would want, the youth complied. God knew what was in the future at that moment. No one on Earth knew that the date for which the play was rescheduled would fall on the Friday after Brionna's return home...but, God knew. Thank God she will be with us for the play on Friday and hopefully Saturday and for church on Sunday!!!! Again, GOD is so awesome. I love HIM so much, as I know you do, too. I am so thankful that when we fall on our face and carry our burdens to HIM, He answers us and yet again shows us just how much HE loves us. Have a great weekend!!Katrina"

Received via email on 11/16/07:"Brionna has very good use of her right hand and arm. She can drive!....her wheelchair! and the golf cart! But hey, that's great! She is able to go to the bathroom. No more diapers! Yay God! Brionna is continuing to learn to talk. Her mischievous, delightful personality is shining through. She and her dad constantly pick on each other. Watching that is an awesome blessing too.Her physical therapists continue to work trying to strengthen her legs. Her mother is believing for Brionna to walk for Christmas! I come in agreement with that for the glory of our Great God! (Boy, I get excited talking about all He has done and is doing.)Brionna will go back to Charleston on November 26 for 3 weeks of intensive therapy. She will get more botox injections, so hopefully that left hand will be movin' freely soon. She still has a feeding tube and has been labeled "a silent aspirator". Doctors will be doing some electric shock on her throat and hopefully she will be eating and talking when she comes home. Full recovery is close. I just know it. Hallelujah! How I feel His Presence just telling of this precious miracle child. Blessings to you and yours-Donna"

Received via email on 11/28/07:"Things have been going well with Brionna. God has continued to bless with strength and mobility. She is able to drive her wheel chair (and the family golf cart!), she is talking a little more distinctively, and has eaten some ice cream, a few French fries, and some bites of chicken McNuggets! PTL!This past Monday, Brionna went back to Charlotte for 3 weeks of intensive rehab. She received botox again in her left hand and arm which are quite drawn. Then doctors extended it and cast it for at least a week. (Sounds painful!) I'll be honest - I'm not sure what all the doctors are planning to do, but I know it will be rough.Brionna wasn't conscious during rehab before. She will be very aware of everything this time.I am very encouraged that the doctors are aggressively working to help her.Once again, please join me in praying for Brionna Spivey, her family, and the doctors caring for her.I'm believing for Brionna to be able to eat meals, talk and laugh, and walk for the glory of our Great God!Be Blessed-Donna"

Nick White, FL

REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM VERONA ON 3/11/09:

"My dad (Nick White) lives in Florida and has had 3 heart attacks in the last 2 months. He has gone home (he lived alone since my mothers death in 2000) where Hospice is helping my brother and my aunt take care of him. My brother has had to take a month off of work to do this. I have been trying to get down to see him, but my mother-in-law lives with us. It is a battle but her other son finally agreed to watch her for a few days starting Sun (3-15-09). We are going to try to leave early that day and visit with him a few days. Please pray for his salvation the last time I was able to talk to him (about 2 weeks ago) he told me that God was telling him to get ready. Praise the Lord for that!!!!!!!!!! I hope to get to see him and know that he is ready before he goes.
PRAISE HIS WONDERFUL NAME! THANK YOU JESUS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME. I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH, PRAISE YOUR NAME. I JUST CAN'T PRAISE YOU ENOUGH.
Thank you for your prayers,
Verona Wilson"

Anyway, will you please pray and maybe send out a prayer chain. We go to Chapel Hill on May 12 to a specialist. I'm not in church anymore, but I know that God can do anything!!!!! Jill Navarrette

URGENT!!!
REC'D VIA EMAIL FROM MARIE ON 03/07/09:

"Chrisa,
A good friend of mine sent this. Please lift this young lady up in prayer and her mother and family as well. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

Dear Fellow Homeschoolers,Please pray for the Navarrette family. Here is a copy of the email I received from Shelley."It is my daughter Jill, who is in her early 20's whom you have not met. She is at Duke and has cancer in her lymph system. She probably would very much appreciate knowing someone cares and prays. She is very afraid and doesn't want to have cancer and doesn't want to die. It is an aggressive type, but they said if her heart can tolerate an extremely aggressive chemo treatment, that there is a good chance she may not die. It all happened so fast and with everything else our family has gone through this year, I need strength. "

Pender County boy hurt on ATV remains in coma
By Brian FreskosStar-News Intern
Published: Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Last Modified: Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 8:12 p.m.
When 3-year-old Jones Carr was sitting on a parked ATV on Feb. 21 with his father and brother at their home in Pender County, no one foresaw what tragic accident was about to take place, his father said Thursday. Jones Carr was seriously injured in an ATV accident on Feb. 21.

Joey Carr said he took his hands off the throttle for a moment to answer a phone call. Then Jones hit the throttle and the ATV lurched forward, throwing Carr and his other son off the seat. The ATV stood up on end and tipped over onto Jones, causing a severe neck injury that formed a blood clot to his brain.
A family member said Jones was taken to Children’s Pediatric Hospital in Chapel Hill.
The doctors were forced cut open Jones’s skull to allow the brain to swell, and they induced a coma to save his life, Joey Carr said. But when doctors sealed the brain shut, an infection set in.
“They don’t really know what the future holds,” he said.
Carr said doctors told him his son could suffer extensive brain damage, and possibly enter a vegetative state.
Since the accident, the community has been “extremely comforting” to the Carr family, Jones’s grandfather Chuck Noe said. There has been a constant stream of food and other donations, and people have set up fundraisers for support.
Dorothy Noe, Chuck’s wife and Jones’s grandmother, said a car dealership in Wallace is donating $100 for every car sold.
Joey Carr said people from the community have stayed in the hospital with the family and his son overnight.
“They’re are doing incredible things to keep us going,” he said.
People from places as far away as Africa have joined the Prayer Warriors for Jones Carr group on the Facebook social networking site, hoping that through the power of prayer Jones will be able to make a full recovery.
“If Jones is healed in this,” Joey Carr said, “it’s only because of God’s grace and healing through Jesus Christ and all the prayers worldwide that cry out to him.”
Chuck Noe said the parents have never left their son’s bedside.
“It’s been emotionally draining, a sad situation,” Noe said.

Jeanette Patterson, NC

Jeanette was taken to the emergency room on Tuesday with a gall bladder flare up. They decided to keep her and did a heart catherization on her on Wednesday to make sure her heart was in good enough shape to proceed with surgery. That went ok.
Today (Friday, March 6) at 2pm she is scheduled to have her gall bladder removed. They also found a growth about the size of a volley ball and will remove that at the same time. Regina Ivey, our church (Union Chapel) secretary/treasurer is Jeanette's daughter and is asking that we lift her mother in prayer today.

Chris's daughter, MO

REC'D VIA EMAIL ON 2/16/09 FROM MARIE:

"Please also keep his daughter (my stepdaughter) and her husband and kids in prayer. They are possibly facing criminal charges stemming from drug use. We are praying that the Lord will do whatever is necessary to get her and her husband OFF of drugs and into a good relationship with Him. Also that her kids will not be taken away from her and that, if they should remove them from the home, that they will go into the care of the extended family. It's a huge mess and I'm asking the Lord to mend hearts and for us to all come to an understanding."
