URGENT!!!
Please help us pray for Caleb, who is a seventeen year old friend of our sons. He is fighting for his life ... on life support in New Hanover Hospital following tragic car wreck around 12:30am on May 8. Caleb's brain has been swelling and both lungs are collapsed. Doctors told the family that this type of reaction (due to the trama of the impact) will typically peak after about 3 days. This means that tomorrow (Mother's Day) will be the day in which they can tell if the swelling will stop and he will recuperate. It is my understanding this young man doesn't have a church family; we need to adopt him (and his mom, sister, and brother) ... and love them and prayerfully support them through this horrific time. Let's get on our faces before the Lord in behalf of this young man's life, and ask God to help him, in Jesus' Name!

Kenny Jr went to the hospital today to visit with Caleb's brother and family. The doctor's decided to put Caleb in a medically induced coma state last night; he has been completely out today. They haven't really changed much about how the brain swelling is, but they did say today that he is getting blood flow to his brain. They also said he is having trouble with his lungs. Let's continue to pray for this young man's specific needs: LUNGS, BRAIN
Let's also continue to pray for his older brother, Noah ... and his mom, Angie ... as well as an older sister and two aunts who are up at the hospital with him.
URGENT!!!
We just got a phone call from Noah (Caleb's brother) a little after 12am. He asked that Pastor Kenneth go to the hospital to be with them because they're not expecting Caleb to live much longer. Pastor Ken and Kenny Jr are on their way back up there. Please pray for Caleb and his family!
URGENT!!!
I just rec'd a message from Pastor Ken letting us know that Caleb's mom will have to make a decision soon about taking him off the machine. She's not ready to do that yet. We must lift her to the Lord ... asking for a peace that passeth all understanding, and a hope and trust in the Lord that she may have never experienced before. She is a single parent facing so much right now. We must pray for God's Will in Caleb's life...
It's 1:30pm and I on my quick lunch break. I've checked in with folks at the hospital. Apparently the doctor called the family in to let them know that they tested for brain activity, and it came back that any activity detected was a result of medications. They were advised that carbon monoxide is building up due to his O2 saturation being low. Caleb wanted to donate organs, so they will be forced to stop medications, and soon take him off the machines in order to save the organs. Friends and family have been in and out today to say good-bye and support his family. Please continue to pray diligently today ... I will update you again after work.
Latest information I have to share with you is that since Caleb is an organ donor, they had to go on and make a decision earlier today so the organs would be in a condition to be used. His O2 sats were low and carbon monoxide was building up in his body. They tested once again for any brain activity, and told the family that any activity was coming from the meds they were giving him. The meds were stopped earlier today. His family came home to shower and have some alone time. They will return to the hospital to be there when he is taken off the machine. They have requested to be alone for this. I will continue to update you as I know more.
Caleb will be funeralized on Saturday, May 16. The visitation time will be at 10am, followed by the funeral service at 11am. These services will be held at First Baptist Church in Shallotte. Youth Pastor Keith Wilson will open and close in prayer; Pastor Kenneth Powell and Pastor Bob Weathers will officiate. Please be much in prayer for family and friends. There is also a Caleb Hawkins Memorial Fund set up at Security Savings Bank in Shallotte.
