Received from Marie (one of our dedicated prayer partners) via email on 5/15/08:

"Please keep me in your prayers. I woke up Sunday morning (Mother's Day) sick with a sore throat and generally not feeling well. I was on the couch all day and woke up Monday feeling just as poorly.
We had taken my daughter to the family dr. previously and she had a follow-up visit scheduled for Tuesday, so I figured I'd wait til Tuesday. I did indeed see the dr. They did a strep test, it was negative and finally they determined it was some type of infection. She put me on antiobiotics for strep, just in case the test was wrong. (my dh can't be around strep or staph due to cellulitis in his leg)

I've been so sick and can't seem to kick this. I woke up last night, after having taken some homeopathic cold syrup. The Lord woke me up out of a sound sleep and told me to go take Benadryl NOW! I did and the swelling in my throat, which I mistook for soreness in all my grogginess started going down and I was able to breathe normally after a bit.

Today my right ear is sore and infected and I still have a fever. The dr is out of the office til Monday, (I called earlier today) and I am incredibly sick. We have no insurance and I know the Lord can heal me. I know He can. I am miserable. I'm asking for prayers for Him to heal me. I'm really tired of being sick in bed all day.

Thank you for all the prayers in advance. I appreciate this prayer chain so much!

I apologize for the delay in posting ... Received via email on 5/18/08:

"Please continue to hold me up in prayer. I've got both of my ears infected and I can't hear very well out of either. I've been taking the meds the dr gave me and I am sure I'll be able to talk to her more tomorrow, but I can't see her til then.

I also have an infection in both eyes and I am miserable. I'm ready for the Lord to do something!

We also need the Lord to work a miracle in the church. He knows the situation and we're just asking Him to take care of it. Thanks so much for all the wonderful prayers and thoughts.

"I just thought I'd send an update. I go see the dr again tomorrow. Hopefully, they will be able to get this eye infection under control and do something else for my ear infections. (yep, both ears!) I'm praying and asking the Lord to show me what He's trying to show me in the midst of this. I don't get it, whatever it is. Help me pray to be receptive to His Will in the midst of being sick. Thanks so much.

Received via email from Marie on 5/29/08:

"I thought I would give an update on my situation, as it's been awhile.

I contacted the dr and she gave me another round of antibiotics. They still did not do the trick. I cannot hear out of my right ear at all. My left ear is at about 50% and the 'dr' (a family nurse practitioner) said she's unsure what to do with me. I am out of $$$, so I can't pay to see her (or anyone else) again. We've spent close to $300, trying to get this under control. I simply do not know what to do.

I have also developed 2 boils. My mom seems to think this is a systemic infection and that I need to be on some very strong antibiotics for it. I can't afford any more medical bills. I am taking 5-8,000 mg. of Vit C daily, as a way to combat the infection.

I am asking the Lord to intervene in a mighty way. I am so tired of being sick.

Thank you for the continued prayers. I appreciate them so much.

RECEIVED VIA EMAIL FROM MARIE ON 6/6/08:

"I was able to see a physician today. He spent quite a bit of time with me and prescribed some powerful antibiotics. He did say it is not mersa, but he considers it a serious infection because it has gone on for so long. He also prescribed a nasal spray and some steriods to help my body fight the infection. I am so thankful and I know the Lord led me to this dr. The dr. urged me to return if the antibiotics did not appear to be working and said he wanted to keep a close eye on me. I am so thankful for the Lord's provision in choosing a dr. and blessing us with the finances to be able to afford the visit to the dr. and the medicines as well.

I'm so thankful for everyone's prayers. I appreciate them soo much. (((warm hugs to all)))"

RECEIVED FROM MARIE VIA EMAIL ON 6/27/08:

"I went back to the dr. and took my husband. We were concerned that maybe we both had this infection and it was just being passed back and forth between us. The dr. gave us both antibiotics and some prescriptions for allergy meds, which we both needed.
The dr also pointed out that it could very well be mold or mildew in our home that was "egging" this thing on and preventing us from healing completely. At his suggestion, we stripped the carpet out of our bedroom yesterday. There were quite a few spots that my husband found that were "bad". I am assuming that meant mold? Or possibly mildew? We stripped the carpet and pad, cleaned up the flooring and we now have a beautiful hard wood floor in our bedroom. Hopefully that will cut down on the allergens in our room.
I also checked the air conditioner and we realized that there was mold growing in it! So it will come out today and we will either 1) clean it or 2) get rid of it and get another one. We're unsure of what we'll do. We will not put it back in if we cannot clean it.
The dr. did tell us about Schnuck's, (rhymes with hooks, it's a grocery store) that offers free oral antibiotics. We wondered about it, but we went in and they DID give us free prescriptions. I am amazed at the Lord's provision.
The dr strongly recommended that we move since we are sitting on a full foundation and the basement leaks.

So the blessings that have come from this are:

We were BOTH able to see the dr. The Lord provided us with the ability to do that.

The carpeting in our bedroom has been removed and that will help with my allergies.

We have a beautiful hardwood floor now. :) (former owners covered it up with carpet!)

We have contacted a realtor and have begun actively seeking another home.

We decided to go the whole hog and get a new bed frame for the bed.

My prayers are:
for my dh and I to be healed of this sinus infection/allergy problem

That we can find a new home for a reasonable price with more room than we have here.

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers. I believe the Lord is buoying us up through those prayers.
